Hello again January 23, 2009

Wow!!  Usually, I’m SO much better about posting.  Can’t believe its been 2 weeks since my last.  Sorry, life has been VERY hectic.

I’ve been brainstorming on the headband idea.  I bought some blue spray-on fabric dye from Hobby Lobby and tested it on some white aida cloth–it turned out AWESOME!!

My test strips are lightly sprayed blue, a kinda baby blue.  I’m playing w/some borders, etc. to put on the headbands and found some matching fabric-believe that!!-and velcro to put on the ends.  I’m thinking that will make it stay on heads better.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to start making better progress on the headbands as we’re getting back into the work/school routine.  I’ll try harder to post some pix and I intend to sell them on www.coatclosetdesigns.etsy.com.

Been a week or so… January 8, 2009

since I wrote last. Been busy w/getting the family back into the groove of school and work again.

I did return the sewing machine I bought since it didn’t work. GRR!!

I finished the baby bib gift I’ve been working on since Nov. and presented it away. She REALLY likes it and its her 1st personalized gift for the new baby.

I worked a bit on the headband idea and can’t decide if a 1in band is better than a 2in band. ?? 1in is smaller, but doesn’t leave much room to put a design. 2in is bigger for designs, but not sure if its too wide for some people. Hmm…maybe I’ll just offer both sizes.

From Coat Closet Designs!!

Already the new year has given me some new ideas that I plan to try out!! 

I’m thinking of trying to make custom cross stitch headbands(aida cloth for the design and fabric for the ties) to sell on etsy.  I even bought a little sewing machine to see if that would help me finish them off prettier.  I opened it yesterday and I’m still reading the instructions and doing some testing.  Wish me luck!!

Anyway, off to relax a bit more this holiday and brainstorm.

**Edited 1/2/09 to add**  Sewing machine gave me probs.  Followed instructions and it wouldn’t stitch ANYTHING.  Surfed the web for any other customer reviews and found that most DID NOT endorse it.  I’ll be taking it back today/tomorrow for a refund.
