Getting some stuff accomplished… July 26, 2009

Well, I finished the 2 bookmarks for the lady @ church and delivered them today!!  She LOVED them!!  So, here are some pix.

I’ll start working on the 30 mini bookmark order, probably tomorrow.  :-)

Big finish!! July 21, 2009

Well, I stitched almost non-stop since 4pm today and completed my racecar bookmark AND put all the backings on.  :-D

Here are pix, so enjoy and comment!!  Think I’m off to relax and may hit the bed early.

Its hot!! July 20, 2009

Well, its Monday…again.  :-P   Its hot here in TX, but at least its not over 100 like its been the last few weeks.  I could be happy w/it being 85 all the time-not too hot/cold, but I don’t usually get what I want.

I’ve finished the globe and am almost done w/the racecar, so I’m planning to put the fabric backings on the 4 bookmarks tonight.  Then, I’ll start on the bookmark orders that I received from one of the girls @ church-designed for our women’s ministry!!  I went ahead and designed one for our men’s ministry, but not sure how many of the guys would want one though.

After that,  I’ve got to get started on my 30 mini-bookmark order for another girl @ church that she’d like for a prison ministry she’s involved in.  Luckily, she doesn’t need them til Jan/Feb, so I won’t be too rushed.

I decided to stop taking orders for bookmarks a little early b/c of all the previous mentioned orders b/c I can’t guarantee I could finish them before Xmas.  School for the boys and my regular work hours will start at the end of Aug. and I’m not sure how much busier I’ll be w/a 7th and 1st grader.  Oh well, that’s my life.

Going to get off for now and try working on the racecar for my last hour at regular job, then go home and work some more.

TGIF :-D July 10, 2009

TGIF!!  Its been a busy week w/work, Jacob’s church activities, regular family stuff and working on the biz.

I’m making great progress on the #3 bookmark of the globe and #4’s racecar should be just as quick.  My MIL has ordered a custom chart that I’ll start working on after I finish the bookmarks.  I’m planning to design it on 10ct aida to make it easier for her to see.  :-)   My mom has offered to work on some more of my patterns to get me some more examples.  I’ve just got to reprint the charts w/bigger symbols b/c of her eyesight.

I’m still considering making stamped cross stitch kits-when I have the $$ and room.  The screen printer @ Micheal’s is really cool, but its as big as my kitchen table!!  I REALLY need a room solely for the business to hold all my stuff.  I found some free image editing software that will help me remove the backgrounds when I print in virtual stitch.  So, its a  possibility, just not reality…yet.

Well, I’ve got to get ready to hit the movies for my other job (Bruno-ewww!! and I love you, Beth Cooper).  Only trailers, so I’ll leave before the movies really get started.

Monday musings… July 7, 2009

Had a pretty uneventful Monday-Yeah!!

Went to the post office job and had a GREAT time rehashing the weekend w/my friend/mgr and our college student helper.  Went to lunch w/the hubby and sons, then came home a took a short nap.

Biz-related news:  I found a FREE image editing software that works awesomely!!  Think it may help me get designs ready for a stamped xstitch venture in the future.  That $300 silk screen printer is a dream purchase at this time.  :-)   Played with a for little bit this afternoon and it removes the background from the chart JPEGs.  So, WHEE for me!!

Think I’m going to excercise for a little while(dancing in the living room), then work on my xstitch bookmarks.

Sunday’s end… July 6, 2009

Today was OK.  Nothing too exciting.

Went to church-we were there early b/c it was our weekend to make coffee.  Very ironic  that those of us that make the coffee, don’t drink it.  :-}  Almost missed the sermon b/c Pastor Mike switched the order of things.  Whew!!

Had lunch, then, Andrew and I both ended up taking naps, which left our 12 yr old and 6 yr old, playing video games while we slept the afternoon away.  :-)

Went to our new life group this evening-AWESOME!!  It feels like we’re actually wanted and our opinions, etc. are appreciated.  WooHoo!!

Didn’t do anything stitching related at all this weekend-OOPS.  Only have 2 more bookmarks to finish, then I don’t know what I’ll do.  May work on stitching examples.  Who knows.

Well, its getting late and I need to get some sleep before work tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July!! July 4, 2009

Coat Closet Designs hopes that everyone has a great 4th and to remember to pray for ALL our leaders, even if we didn’t vote for them.

God continue to bless America!!

Trying something new… July 3, 2009

WordPress is suggesting to write something everyday for National Blog Month, so here goes nothing.  :-)

I am almost done with bookmark #2, only a few more stitches to go.  Should finish tomorrow.  Bookmark 3 will hopefully be started tomorrow also.  It will have a section of the globe on it for a traveling related bookmark.

Once this order is finished, I’m not sure what I’ll be working on.  I’ve considered doing a baby book cover for a couple @ church, whose baby boy will be here in September.  May work on designing that cover soon.  Maybe that will garner some business for me too.  Hmmm….

Life is still busy.  The boys (hubby included) will be going off to camp for a week at the end of July, so I’ll have a week to myself.  :-D   I usually have grand plans to “really get down to business” during those times, but it doesn’t happen most of the time.  Hmmm…really NEED to get the boys’ scrapbooks caught up.  I’m about a year and a half behind.  If I can just get stuff pasted in them and in order, then I’ll be happy.  Wish me luck.

Guess I’ll get off the computer now and get some sleep.  Been at the movies all day yesterday and today checking “Ice Age 3″ and “Public Enemies” for my other job.  Saw about 30-40min of each and they were both entertaining.  REALLY want to go back and finish “Public Enemies”. Gotta fit that in too.
